Is what my mom did, messed up?

My birthday was the 14th, and all I wanted was an ipod touch, but I would have even been happy with music/video player whether it was expensive or dirt cheep. My mom told me that she didn't have the money to get me it, so i said anything would be fine then. I went all of my birthday waiting to get my parents gift because no matter what it is, it is still special. My mom got home and went straight to sleep. i knew she was tired so i didn't think anything of it. In the morning she didn't even acknowledge me or that the day before was my birthday, all day nothing. She didn't get me anything, but then the next day she decided to go to Reno to go shopping, I thought i was at least going to get something there, no, I was wrong all we did was shop for clothes and crap for her trip to Vegas. She spent over $500 that day and none on me. I confronted her and asked her what was up, she just said, "If you want something get it yourself you have the money, because I don't." is this wrong or am i just being selfish?
