Chances of getting into American University or GW?

You have a great chance at both schools. Keep your grades up and either find a SAT prep course that you can afford or buy a book. Your mission is to get a decent score on your SATs. You don't say how challenging your cles are (AP and so forth). Take some challenging courses Spring and Fall before you apply. Also do something interesting this summer that will fuel your college app essays. You're looking good but finish strong.
