Does anybody else think the south is less racist then the north or the west?

ive lived both in the south (memphis), the west coast (san fran) and i notice that people on the west coast are WAY more racist then in the south. white people in the south have kinda a southern hospitality feel to them like they'll speak to you but white people in california when you walk past them they'll stare at you like their uncomfortble around you.
