How do you make it obvious your book takes place in the future without being queer about it?

If you wanted them to know the exact year, you could have the character just glance at a newspaper (or whatever the future equivalent is). It doesnt have to be a big deal, say the character is in their house and they glance at the newspaper on their kitchen table or something and just have them look at the date and then say it. Done
