Will we see FDR-type "make-work" projects in the future?
Could current global and domestic economic conditions invite government-run, job creation initiatives? Will Obama deliver on his vision for FDR style mega-projects to bring employment back to struggling Americans? In addition to road and dam building, this time, the millions would also be engaged in high-tech, high efficiency, retooling, retrofitting and redesigning of infrastructure. Will this 'grand plan' serve to imprison the freedom of our great grand children with generation after generation of onerous taxes ? Or, could it work? Might it bring back the industrial greatness in America? It sounds too socialistic too me. Anything wholly "run by the guv" usually costs too much and produces little of real (priority) value. But there are exceptions. What say you? Would you favour these mega-projects and national make-work programs?
