Previous overclock settings not loading upon startup. HELP!?

I used the AMD Overdrive Utility (yes yes I know I'm an idiot for using it and should use the BIOS, but unless someone actually takes the time to explain how to overclock with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 with an Asus M3A78-CM motherboard, I'm sticking to AOD) to overclock my system to 3.8Ghz (from 3.4), but it doesn't load upon startup and I have to manually load it. I wish I wouldn't. Anyone know how to fix this? I did set the 3.8Ghz as default and checked the "load previous settings upon startup."
